About My Clients
If you struggle with anxiety, anger, church hurt or abuse, depression, life transitions, racial-related distress, a lack of resilience, spiritual maturity, or trauma, I would love the opportunity to share tools that can help you find relief. Those looking to get married have been able to assess their marital readiness and next steps. Couples that cannot seem to communicate well, have the same arguments, or have experienced the heartbreak of betrayal have been able to create a new relationship.`
My Background and Approach
I seek to help transform individuals with a holistic growth model that connects the mind, heart, body, and spirit. This model is a culmination of cognitive theory and over 11 years of experiences that brought me out of an eight-month long depression. My doctoral research and experience with leadership development found a correlation between resilience and spiritual maturity. The findings have been adapted into tools that support overcoming the present and long term distress, constructing healthy habits, and designing a future life vision. The individual-focused journey begins with identifying your feelings, understanding the goals of your behavior, and exploring childhood pain. For couples, I use emotion-focused therapy and the Gottman method to help partners repair past hurts by identifying and unlearning negative relational patterns. Learning to listen and empathize is the bedrock of healing that will move you to a more positive sentiment toward your partner.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I can relate to people of all cultures as a first-generation Jamaican-American. I struggled to fit in growing up which contributed to my childhood anger. After I learned to understand my feelings, these powerful emotions became my allies in helping me then others understand their feelings and behavior. I am a Christian and believe all people were created with dignity in the image of God. I know many have been hurt by the church (including myself). I believe that I can help bring healing to those who are survivors of this abuse and that the Bible has great insights for helping individuals and couples understand their realities. I went from one failed relationship to another until I recognized how my triggers influence self-destructive reactions which kept me from giving and being my best. Now I'd like to help you understand yourself as you become the best you.
