About My Clients
I provide culturally informed individual therapy to adults 18 years of age and older. I commonly work with people on the following concerns: stress, mood/depression, anxiety and trauma/PTSD, relationships, substance use, sexual performance, disorders, sexuality/GLBTQIA+ affirming care, sleep disorders, chronic health conditions, and life transitions.
My Background and Approach
I have a PhD in clinical psychology from the University of Kansas and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in sexual medicine at the University of Washington. My approach is collaborative. I strive to provide a supportive and safe place for people to speak openly without fear of judgment. I use a variety of therapeutic techniques like motivational enhancement therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), mindfulness, and written exposure therapy (for trauma/PTSD).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I worked for 20 years as a primary care psychologist providing culturally sensitive behavioral health consultation and therapy in a healthcare setting serving people from diverse backgrounds, including immigrants, people of color, and LGBTQ+ individuals. I strive to provide a supportive and safe place for people to speak openly without fear of judgment. My role is to assist people to recognize their inner resources and learn new skills to achieve more satisfying and fulfilling lives.
