My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Illinois and a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC). I completed my Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies (B.A.) from Centenary College in Los Angeles, California in 2003 and went on to earn my Master of Arts degree in Family Counseling from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, Illinois in 2003. I am currently pursuing my Doctorate in Education degree in Educational Leadership and Organizational Change (Ed.D.) at Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. I feel blessed and humbled by the experiences and opportunities I have been afforded. I have served as a case manager for disabled students, crisis counselor, inpatient intake worker, school counselor, and teletherapist. My career in the mental health field spans some fifteen years where I have worked in behavioral health hospital settings, community mental health, and within schools.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My goal is to help create a safe, trusting therapeutic environment for you to seek guidance and support. I take a humanistic approach to counseling and feel comfortable using a variety of counseling techniques to help you reach your goals and feel better. I am passionate about social justice reform and have been involved in working with children and families who come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds, immigrant / refugee communities, and marginalized parts of society for nearly my entire career. I look forward to working closely with you to help you achieve your goals!
