About My Clients
I believe that I am most effective at serving clients that are experiencing symptoms of depression, anxiety, are in recovery from past substance use, &/or are experiencing some difficulties coping with stressors within their life. I am most effective at serving clients that are between the adolescent to middle age stages of life. It is in my clinical opinion that therapy is most effective when a client is intrinsically motivated to enhance their overall mental health & quality of life.
My Background and Approach
I received my bachelor's degree is psychology & my master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. I have worked in various entry-level positions within the mental health/substance use field, as a substance use counselor, & then as a mental health therapist thus far during my career. My approach to therapy is that I try to assist clients at examining how the ways in which they are responding to their mental health symptoms are causing negative consequences within their lives & then work with them in a collaborative manner to identify more adaptive ways that they can respond to these symptoms in order for them to live a more fulfilling life that is aligned with their own chosen-personal values. I know from my own experience that there are times where life does not feel the most fulfilling, but I also know that growth, healing, & acceptance can be fostered through participating in mental health therapy services.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a mental health therapist, I believe it is my moral & ethical responsibility to serve clients from a diverse set of backgrounds. Throughout my career, I have found that I am passionate about serving underserved &/or marginalized communities as a mental health therapist. In my work, I strive to serve clients from low socioeconomic communities, the LBQTQ+ community, various races &/or religions, individuals that are neurodivergent, & individuals that experience intellectual disabilities. I also consider it my ethical/moral responsibility as a therapist to assist my clients at gaining access to resources & benefits within the community that may have a positive impact on their overall mental health/quality of life.
