My Background and Approach
I’m Jacob Voogd, LMFT (#104865) and founder of Voogd Family Therapy in Los Angeles. I specialize in helping individuals, couples, and families break unhelpful patterns, manage anxiety and depression, and strengthen relationships. Drawing from Gottman Method Couples Therapy, IFS, and ACT, I tailor each session to what works best for you. My clients are often high-achieving creatives and professionals who feel overwhelmed or disconnected despite “holding it all together.” In therapy, you’ll gain tools to manage stress, communicate more effectively, and build resilience. My approach is practical, compassionate, and focused on lasting change—so you leave sessions with insights you can apply right away and a deeper sense of connection to yourself and others.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Beyond my work as a therapist, I believe deeply in creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered to grow. I’m passionate about men’s mental health, breaking generational patterns, and helping people embrace both strength and vulnerability. As a husband and father, family values shape how I show up in the therapy room—with patience, humor, and compassion. I support movements that promote equity, belonging, and mental health awareness, and I’m drawn to communities that challenge the stigma around therapy. Outside of work, I stay grounded through CrossFit, creativity, and time with my kids. My hope is that clients experience me not just as a therapist, but as someone who genuinely believes in their capacity for resilience, healing, and deeper connection.
