About My Clients
My clients are open to change & ready to learn new skills aiming for personal growth. I work with individuals & families (10+) specializing in issues relating to transracial adoption, terminal/chronic illness, trauma, behavior change, and LGBTQ+.
My Background and Approach
Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), I collaborate with my clients to help change the little voice inside their heads telling them they are not good enough, things are never going to change, or that there is no hope left. Understanding how your thoughts influence your emotions & behaviors builds the pathway to positive change. Although I will never tell you what to do because you are in charge of your own life, I will be there to guide you through unpacking the painful trauma that you may have experienced. I will be by your side when you are trying to find balance in the face of life transitions. I will help you create a personalized tool box that will help you get through whatever life throws at you. Although I am trained specifically in CBT, I understand that it may not work for everyone. I pull from a variety of theoretical approaches to meet my clients where they are at.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My aim is to create a safe space for my clients unpack their experiences free from judgement and anything that ends in -ist/-ism. I believe transparency between therapist and client is an imperative element in creating a strong therapeutic relationship. I will laugh with you and challenge you to operate outside of your comfort zone when needed. Outside of my clinical work, I like to read, connect with friends, explore nature, & listen to music/podcasts. I love learning about nutrition & fitness focusing on sustainable approaches to create a healthier relationship with food and exercise (avoiding toxic diet culture) and exploring my identity as a Chinese adoptee. I advocate for adoptee rights, LGBTQIA+ rights, racial justice (POC/BIPOC), pediatric cancer/oncology awareness, mental health awareness, and body positivity.
