About My Clients
I primarily work with adults and teenagers struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and spirituality.
My Background and Approach
My goal in therapy is to be a conduit of empowerment, understanding, unconditional positive regard through a person centered approach in a collaborative way. I believe each individual is an expert in their own lives and my goal is to help facilitate empowerment through education and introspection. I use a dynamic approach to meet each of my clients where they are, allowing them to direct the speed of their growth. I believe my clients are experts in their lives and are uniquely able to direct therapy, while my job is to create a safe environment for exploration and to provide resources and techniques. I pull from several different treatment modalities, but typically utilize mindfulness, solution focused, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavior therapy, behavioral activation, existential, and feminist modalities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I firmly believe within each person is the capacity to change, and that often our problems are a result of unhealthy learned behaviors. It can take time, and work, but everyone is able to learn ways to cope with life in healthier ways. I believe, each person has inherent worth and value, and that value does not depend on things like race, gender identity, sexual orientation, spiritual belief, age, or tax bracket (the list could go on). I support reducing mental health stigma and suicide prevention, women's and LGBTQ rights, fair treatment of animals, and helping the environment. I am a member of the Livingston County Suicide Prevention Task Force where we work to reduce mental health stigma, and reduce suicide and overdose deaths. In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors and cherish time I am able to spend hiking, camping, or kayaking. I love animals, and believe in trying to make the world a better place through both humanitarian and ecological means.
