About My Clients
I strives to create a supportive therapeutic environment for individuals to process challenges they face and improve their ability to cope with and manage their distress. I utilizes a process-oriented approach to improve his client’s awareness and insight into their challenges, while helping them develop the skills and confidence necessary to navigate these challenges more effectively. I invite my clients to take an active role in therapy so we can create a strong therapeutic environment.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed psychologist with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I believe a healthy and trusting relationship is paramount to creating a therapeutic environment in which growth and change can occur. My approach to therapy is integrative and often shifts based on the needs and preferences of my clients. Although I am largely process-oriented in my style, I can readily shift into evidence-based, behavioral, and skills focused modalities to help my clients develop specific skills, as needed. I strive to help my clients explore the experiences that have shaped who they are and grow into the person they want to be.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My clinical experiences have allowed me to work with high school and college students, athletes, and veterans who come from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. I have personal experience with and professional knowledge of geek and gamer culture. Video games, board games, or athletic sports can provide us with a healthy distraction, a community in which we belong, and they can help us learn new skills. I believe in helping my clients create solutions that capitalize on their strengths.
