About My Clients

I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, stuck, trapped, and alone. I also know the relief and freedom that comes with healing. I founded my practice to support people in finding healing for themselves. I provide individual therapy for a wide range of concerns. I also specialize in a few specific areas, including: Anxiety, Depression, Chronic pain, Trauma and Posttraumatic Stress, Paruresis (Shy Bladder), Musician Coaching

My Background and Approach

As a therapist, I offer a mix of heart-centered, integrative, and somatic therapy for those looking for emotional support, deeper insight, healing from trauma and pain, personal growth, or self-empowerment. My approach to therapy is humanistic, experiential, and mentally, physically, and emotionally focused. The main counseling modalities I draw upon are Internal Family Systems, Somatic Experiencing® trauma work, and Mindful Self-Compassion. I have continuously been amazed by the power of these therapies, both with clients and in my own self-work. We will work together to help you overcome your difficulties and cultivate the life that you want for yourself. For more details about me, how I practice, and the different specialty services I offer, please see my website (www.jackrubincounseling.com). I understand that it can feel scary to reach out to someone for help. My strong intention is to make the process feel safe and welcoming all along the way.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Along with my private work, I currently facilitate groups for the non-profit organization SeekHealing (www.seekhealing.org) whose mission is to help people from all different backgrounds learn to connect and listen to each other on a deeper level in order to help communities heal from addiction, trauma, systemic shame, and loneliness. I have also facilitated SeekHealing’s Listening Training specifically for other mental health professionals aimed at helping them to deepen their abilities to be there for their clients. In addition to counseling, music is a huge passion in my life. I have been playing guitar for over 20 years and teaching music for over a decade. Spirituality has also long been a core tenet of my life and I have taught classes in meditation and mindfulness skills to people of all ages.
