About My Clients
My clients are often thoughtful, insight-oriented adults who look fine on the outside but feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected inside. Many are navigating recurring relationship patterns, struggles with self-worth, or a sense that something deeper is going on beneath their symptoms. Others simply know something isn't working and want to understand why. Therapy isn't about judging your patterns, but understanding why they developed and deciding whether they still serve you.
My Background and Approach
I've been in private practice for more than a decade, and my social work career spans more than 30 years. My work has included serving people experiencing homelessness, HIV/AIDS, incarceration, trauma, addiction, and other complex life circumstances. These experiences taught me to look beyond symptoms and diagnoses and understand people in the context of their lives. My primary orientation is psychodynamic. I look beneath symptoms to understand how early experiences, relationships, unconscious patterns, and ways of protecting ourselves continue to shape the present. I'm an active and engaged therapist who asks questions, offers observations, and sometimes challenges assumptions or invites you to see things differently. We also pay attention to what happens between us, because the therapeutic relationship can reveal patterns that are difficult to see elsewhere. I believe therapy requires both understanding and action. Insight can help us understand why a pattern exists; change comes whe
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people make more sense when we understand them in the context of their lives. The patterns that cause us difficulty often developed for understandable reasons, even when they eventually become limiting. I'm interested in helping people understand those patterns with curiosity rather than judgment.
