About My Clients
My clients are often thoughtful, insight oriented adults who look fine on the outside but feel stuck, anxious, or disconnected from themselves on the inside. Many are navigating recurring relationship patterns, a shaky sense of self-worth, or a nagging sense that something deeper is going on beneath their symptoms. They tend to be curious and reflective, ready to look honestly at themselves rather than just find a quick fix to complicated challenges.
My Background and Approach
I've been in private practice for over a decade, working from a psychodynamic orientation that looks beneath symptoms to understand their roots in early experience, relational patterns, and unconscious conflict. Earlier in my career, I worked directly with unhoused individuals and people with HIV/AIDS and with incarcerated individuals, work that demanded real presence with shame, loss, and complexity, and shaped how I sit with difficult material without flinching or rushing toward quick fixes. That grounding still informs how I work today: I believe real change comes from being deeply understood, not just advised. My approach is collaborative and reflective rather than directive, we move at the pace that lets insight actually take hold, paying close attention not only to what you bring into session, but to how it shows up between us. I work exclusively online, which in my experience doesn't limit depth, it simply means that depth can meet you wherever you are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe people are far more resilient, and far more capable of change, than the symptoms that bring them to therapy suggest — my job is to help create the conditions where that becomes visible to you too. I'm drawn to questions about how people make meaning out of difficult experiences, which is part of what led me to start writing a book exploring trauma and its long, often unconscious afterlife. Outside of clinical work, I study jazz theory and play piano, speak Spanish, and love traveling to new countries whenever I can. I try to bring the same qualities into the therapy room that I value in life: curiosity, patience, and a willingness to sit with complexity rather than rush past it.
