About My Clients

I work with adults across the lifespan who are trying to navigate the variety of unique challenges that life presents–from depression and anxiety, to major life transitions, to serious health concerns and grief. I believe that each client is the expert in their own life and therapy is a tool to process and enhance the meaning of their experiences. I see my role as that of a curious guide and partner on your journey with some specific tools to offer along the way.

My Background and Approach

With a background in healthcare (having worked in emergency, critical care, outpatient, and hospice settings for more than 10 years), I have a particular passion for working with clients facing life challenges at the intersection of physical and mental health, whether that be coping with your own physical and/or mental illness, being a caregiver, dealing with stress and burnout, or grieving a loss. My approach to therapy is collaborative and eclectic, tailored to the needs of each client. I believe in a balance between reflection and action in therapy. As we talk through the challenges you are facing, we work to understand and address the pain that shows up while also building on areas of strength and taking action where it will be most beneficial. Using narrative and metaphor, mindfulness and experiential practice, we will work together to make space for difficult feelings, heal in the places you need to, and take steps towards the life you want for yourself.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I practice from a place of humility, recognizing my privilege and the limits of my own lived experience. I have traveled my own physical and mental health journey, which I believe brings an additional layer of compassion and understanding to my work. I was compelled to become a therapist after spending years as both a "provider" and "consumer" in what I consider to be a rather broken health/mental health system. My goal is to help others feel more seen, heard, validated, and respected as they navigate their own paths. I strive to be a fierce and vocal ally for individuals and communities with marginalized voices in the mainstream. I am constantly learning and trying to grow, both as a human and as a practitioner. I look forward to learning from and witnessing you in this chapter of your life!
