About My Clients

I'm drawn to working with insightful, curious, kind, intelligent people who often struggle with how to manage the strong emotions they experience and the never-ending thoughts running through their heads. My clients are often highly sensitive people (HSPs) who may also be working through perfectionism, imposter syndrome, anxiety, depression or being utterly stressed out. I love helping my clients deepen their self-understanding, develop self-compassion and strengthen their tools for coping.

My Background and Approach

I'm a licensed marriage & family therapist (LMFT) and a CAMFT Certified Supervisor. I'm also the founder and director of Thrive Therapy & Counseling, a team of amazing therapists. I earned my master's degree from Chapman University in January 2010, completed over 3,000 hours of clinical experience and passed 2 licensing exams. I participate in ongoing continuing education trainings and certifications. Some of my recent favorites include Yoga for Trauma, Elaine Aron's Retreat for HSPs and Advanced Skills in Supervising. I approach my work with clients from a human level. I see us as two people forming a team to help them make the changes they want in their lives. I know the psychology, and they know themselves best. We may laugh, cry, yell, curse or sit in silence together. I focus on connecting with each person and then incorporating the tools or skills to help them reach their goals. I believe strongly in Dr. Irvin Yalom's approach to "create a new therapy" for each client.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe deeply in our inherent dignity as human beings and in everyone's right to access the resources they need to live happy, productive lives. I'm LGBTQQ-friendly, a feminist, and am supportive of racial and social equity and of all people regardless of age, ability, citizenship status, and the like. I've worked in and provided trainings on harassment and discrimination prevention. I strive to be representative of all people in my team of therapists at Thrive Therapy and in the marketing materials I produce.
