I see the therapeutic process as a shared synergy that honors your story and experiences as I walk alongside you. I seek to honor your narrative and value you as the expert of your own life story. Therefore, leading you back to your inner self, your passions, and your desired goals, while simultaneously seeking to alchemize moments of vulnerability into empowering moments of strength and fulfillment.
My Background and Approach
I have a background in domestic abuse advocacy and crisis intervention, as well as HIV and sexual health testing and community education. Along with this, I stand as a sex-positive and inclusive advocate for LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC populations. I would describe my style as vigilant yet gentle. I value using narrative practices to see how one fits into their life story; and explore how experiences create meaning as one navigates the world. I attribute much of my approach to mindfulness techniques to encouraging regulation and resilience in life's unpredictability. Furthermore, guided by holistic values that aim to bring all aspects of the person into account to create integration and wholeness in the process, encouraging strength to be found in the most unexpected and sensitive places. The feeling of being lost is one found in isolation, I seek to collaborate with you and offer techniques and interventions as an ally in your growth.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Emotions are the oxygen to the kindling flames between us and others. They feed the warmth of fiery passion, bring comfort in connection, and offer us light through influence along the way. Tending to that flame requires mindfulness and awareness in a state of balance so that it does not cascade into destructive wildfire or burnout leaving us in the dark. I am committed and disciplined in my effort to give others the skills to tend to those flames that they share with others. I believe that nothing in nature is perfect, and the seasons of life bring bountiful times as well as difficulties. With that said, no matter how many storms or winters come it will grow time and time again. The human spirit is the same, finding growth and new life from old wounds as well as fortitude to handle when new pains come along.
