Anxiety comes with its set of cognitive distortions. The worry for the future can be overwhelming and the sense of impending doom is often a constant companion. I can help you work on your anxiety by identifying situations that strongly trigger you and teach you coping skills that you can use in everyday life and when anxious. If your anxiety stems from traumatic experiences, I can help you see the connections so that you will gain a better sense of yourself and will feel freer to make changes.

My experience with ADHD comes from assessing students from preschool to high school level. I can help you identify the difficulties that you have encountered with your ADHD symptoms but also the special and unique parts of yourself that are connected with your ADHD. My approach will be psychoeducational and strength based. I want you to become very familiar with how your brain works and how you can harness your power.

I have been working with children, tweens and adolescents in therapy utilizing therapeutic games, sand play therapy and story play therapy. I have received extensive training in sand play therapy and training in story play therapy. I believe that it is easier at times to express oneself through play , writing, drawing or creating. Although the online setting is harder to manage in terms of hands on activities, I believe there is a definite place for this approach.

I am trained in Family therapy and completed a Post Master in Family therapy at Saint Mary University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I am very aware of the importance of exploring family dynamics in the context of the therapeutic relation. Clients gain information about their role in their family as well as the family dynamics that have been limiting or helpful in their life. We are part of a larger system.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) is the bread and butter of many of us in the helping profession. CBT cab be utilized for multiple presenting problems from depression and anxiety to insomnia and addictive behaviors. I personally like the tools that this type of therapy provides. When this therapy is a good fit for a client, it can make them an expert on their triggers, cognitive distortions as well as adaptive and maladaptive coping skills.
