About My Clients
Have you ever felt like the way you present or live your life paints a target on your back? Like the weight of society's judgement causes you to shrink yourself to feel safe? In our current political reality life is hard, especially for historically marginalized peoples. Clients who work with me often have histories of complex-trauma and attachment-wounding, which are exacerbated by the current environment. I hope together we can work to equip you with the tools to heal, grow, and thrive.
My Background and Approach
As a transgender woman, I specialize in gender-affirming and LGBTQIA2S+ affirming therapy and utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help transform and lessen the negative self-perceptions and shame that often arise when one's identity doesn't fit inside of society's norms. I am also trauma and attachment-style informed and work foremost to ensure that you feel secure within the therapeutic relationship. Beyond any specific intervention, I believe that the relationship in therapy is the most healing aspect and always invite collaboration and discussion with my client's about what they want their care to look like.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a therapist, I base the foundation of my practice on the notion that you are the expert on your own life, and it is my privilege to be invited into your world to be an extra pair of eyes to help you navigate it. I see therapy as an inherently collaborative process, where we explore the ways in which various coping strategies have served you throughout your life, reinforce the strategies that are helpful, and work together to develop and practice new coping strategies for the future.
