About My Clients
I specialize in supporting older teens and young adults in the BIPOC and minority communities. Many of my clients are in new phases of life and looking for support in the middle of the transition: going to college, entering the workforce, dating and getting married, and more. I let you guide the therapy process—rather than using a single approach, we’ll draw from multiple therapeutic methods to help you get where you want to go.
My Background and Approach
I received my Masters of Social Work from Loma Linda University and my Major in Sociology from University of California, Los Angeles. Over the last 2 years, I’ve supported clients in a variety of settings, including individual and family therapies for children, seniors, veterans, and other populations. My training in: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Narrative Therapy, Community Resiliency Model (CRM) , and Trauma Resiliency Model. My trainings and education guide much of my work with my clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy is an opportunity to understand yourself in a new way, separate from the family who raised you, the society around you, and the stories you’ve told yourself about what you do and don’t deserve in life. We’ll examine the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that are contributing to the sense of overwhelm that you feel and look for ways to begin implementing changes in your day-to-day life. I connect deeply with my clients because I, too, have felt like an outsider before. I know what it’s like to feel misunderstood and disconnected from the people around you, and I’ve also experienced what it feels like to come back to myself and begin living in a way that’s true and authentic to me. I want to offer you a steadfast, welcoming environment where you can do the same.
