My Background and Approach
I was born and raised in Wuhan, China, and I have spent over 13 years pursuing my counseling education in the United States. This gave me the privilege to understand the cultural values in both countries, as well as the acculturation challenges for international population. I approach counseling sessions through a humanistic perspective, and I believe that relationship is the key to change. It is in our human nature that we desire to socially connect and belong. Our counseling relationship will help you gain awareness of how you respond and react with others. Through feeling safe and accepted in our relationship, you will empower yourself and test out different perspectives in approaching different interaction and environment. I have personal experiences being a part of a minority group in this culture, and I have been through facing challenging situations and interactions as well. In my professional experiences, it is my priority to help support and advocate for my clients.
