About My Clients
My clients are going through depression, anxiety, and life transitions. They are experiencing any of a number of stressors including but not limited to familial strife, chronic illness, job stress, and loss of a loved one. I use a collaborative approach so my clients are active participants in the process of figuring out what changes they need to make in their lives to get to a place where they want to be.
My Background and Approach
As a former dialysis social worker, I use a combination of Supportive Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy to help my clients deal with their stressors and life transitions. My experience with life transitions and loss has enhanced my therapeutic skills. My approach is to allow my clients the space to tell me about themselves and their lives, and what they hope to accomplish in therapy. We discuss what changes my clients would like to make and I provide them with the tools they need to process their experiences, feel empowered, and take control of their lives. I encourage my clients to set goals and to recognize and explore the barriers that are preventing them from achieving their goals.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have been practicing Buddhism for several years and have been striving to incorporate Buddhist psychology into my practice.
