About My Clients
Most of my experience so far is with young adult women. I accept other cases as well as long as clients are looking for something that is going to push them and they are ready to commit to doing psychotherapy homework outside of sessions. My approach is not well suited for those who want just to vent, but rather for those who want to learn skills and practice them.
My Background and Approach
I earned my LPC this year and have focused on learning the most effective ways to help clients with anxiety and depression. I use a lot of material from David Burns M.D. who is the author of "Feeling Good" which has impacted millions of lives around the globe since the 1980's. I want my clients to be empowered and equipped, so I integrate valuable homework including reading some of his books in-between sessions which helps to vastly shorten the length of your therapy. David Burns' evidence-based structure is highly effective and whether I'm using cognitive methods or working through trauma with somatic methods, we follow a structure and a flow to our sessions. We track progress, build and improve the therapeutic relationship as we move along, and remove barriers to change before we get to the tools and methods. Once your scores tracking your progress have improved, then we do a session or two to follow up and train you how to prevent relapse of your symptoms.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Therapy must be measurable and empowering rather than vague or creating dependence. I personally believe that everyone is on their own spiritual journey seeking truth and light and the way to fully live, and that mental/emotional health is integral to that. I believe that every person is created to love and be loved and that life is about more than what we can see or understand.
