About My Clients

Are emotions ruling your life and affecting relationships? Are you an overthinker? Our human brains are fascinating in what they allow us to accomplish, but sometimes they can be our own worst enemy! Let me help. Extreme emotions and unhelpful thoughts interfere with our lives and cause significant distress. I like to help people "be okay when things are not okay" by providing a safe space for clients to learn skills for crisis management, emotional regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness.

My Background and Approach

I use a person-centered dialectical-behavior therapy (DBT) approach to help you gain insight into yourself while providing you with the tools and encouragement to thrive instead of just survive. I want you to leave each session feeling validated and more confident in your ability to cope with life on life's terms! My treatment approach uses the biosocial model of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to analyze and help you change your own behaviors, emotions, and thoughts that are linked to problems causing you misery and distress. If you like a structured approach, I do offer individual DBT skills training which includes modules in mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation, and interpersonal effectiveness. I believe we can all find meaning and purpose and create lives worth living no matter the circumstances, sometimes it just takes a helping hand.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I was a lawyer before coming into the mental health field because I wanted to make a difference in the world, or at least the justice system. I eventually realized that I was not helping people in the way I wanted, and that to make a difference in the world I needed to start by helping people on an individual deeper level. I devoted my career to working with incarcerated people before starting my own practice. I believe that by lifting others up and helping even the most broken individuals, I can make enough of a difference to give my life the meaning it was meant to have.
