I am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy, a 12-session evidence-based treatment for PTSD.

I have experience helping clients with all kinds of presenting issues gain skills in looking at the evidence for and against their thoughts, reframing thoughts that are unhelpful, and building skills to help them live better lives. I'm also certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), a CBT-based treatment for PTSD. Part of getting this certification involved practicing Socratic dialogue, guiding clients through ABC worksheets, and strengthening other common CBT skills.

During my training I worked in multiple settings where interpersonal therapy was a primary therapeutic approach. I find that, no matter what the presenting issue is, most clients benefit from looking at their interpersonal patterns. Openly discussing interpersonal dynamics also can strengthen the therapy relationship. Plus, it can be highly rewarding to use therapy as a sandbox for experimenting with new interpersonal strategies that may improve our relationships and our lives.

I'm certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD. This is an approximately 12-session treatment. It's a CBT approach, pretty worksheet/homework heavy. The goal is to find and challenge unhelpful thoughts that were created by trauma. It can include a trauma narrative assignment, but that's optional. CPT requires you to select an 'index trauma' (a trauma that impacts you more significantly) to focus on in treatment, though that doesn't mean we can't talk about others traumas.

As a cis ally, I've worked to increase my personal and professional knowledge so I can better serve my transgender and gender-expansive clients. I've attended many trainings, done a lot of reading, expanded my friend group. My dissertation was on how needing letters of support for gender-affirming healthcare impacts therapy for trans and gender-expansive people. Currently, about 20% of my clients are trans or gender-expansive. I have significant experience writing letters of support.

As a member of the LGBTQ community, I know both what it's like to work with knowledgeable and affirming providers, and what it's like when providers miss the mark. I strive to provide knowledgeable and affirming care to all members of our community. I've completed many trainings, read, consulted, and worked with a wide range of people in our community. And I'm continuously seeking ways to build on my competence. About 39% of my current caseload are members of the LGBTQ community.

Feminist/multicultural therapy is a lens I use across clients. We're all impacted by our society, and often problems bringing us to therapy stem from inequitable distribution of power and resources. Some of my earliest theories and techniques classes were under Dr. Pam Remer, co-creator of Empowerment Feminist Therapy. In therapy, I work to create a collaborative relationship that respects clients' autonomy and helps them explore ways to navigate/change societal structures impacting their lives.
