About My Clients
Many of the adults I work with are navigating the lasting effects of growing up in a rigid or conservative religious environment. They’ve often been told that their needs, feelings, or identities weren’t valid. Perfection was the expectation and the lesson was: if life isn’t going how you want it to, that's on you. Even after updating their belief systems, those messages still linger — shaping how they see themselves, relate to others, and move through the world.
My Background and Approach
I am a LPC in Colorado and Certified EMDR therapist, both since 2021. I help my clients find compassion for and trust in themselves by equipping them with the tools to understand how their past experiences are shaping the way they see themselves today. Here’s what our work might look like: 01. Map out what’s going on now - identify what is keeping you stuck. 02. Build acceptance and compassion for this struggling version of you. 03. Dig for the why - you've looked before, but never with me. 04. Identify, untangle, and reprocess the problematic messages you've internalized. 05. You finally understand - the kind of understanding the brings deep and lasting change. You’ll finally be able to see yourself with clarity instead of criticism, and feel a freedom you might not have thought possible. Success in my practice looks like clients learning how to focus on and trust in themselves and focus less on what others say is right or good.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My core values of authenticity, inclusivity, and empathy allow clients to not shrink themselves and invites them to reconnect with their inner wisdom. As someone who tries to remain consistently in a growth mindset, I'm always learning. I participate in a bi-weekly peer consultation group with close colleagues to allow myself to hear varied perspectives on client care. I also meet with my EMDR Consultant to specifically hone my EMDR skills. As an EMDR Certified Clinician I am also required to accrue 12 hours of advanced training in EMDR every two years, which I really enjoy! I will also take trainings, listen to podcasts, and read books on subjects that pique my interests or that relate directly to common themes my clients are experiencing.
