About My Clients
I welcome all sexual orientations and gender identities with open arms and support. I work with clients who have experienced trauma and PTSD related to sexual orientation or gender identity, career/life transitions, or grief experienced because of emotional losses they have faced from family and community. I also work with clients who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, identity issues, and transgender issues.
My Background and Approach
Being an “L” within the LGBTQIA+ community raised in an oppressive religious environment, I have a deep passion for working with clients who have experienced religious/spiritual trauma. That passion led me to complete a Master of Divinity from Campbell University in 2019, as a dual-degree with the Master's in Mental Health Counseling in 2021. In terms of counseling style, I resonate most with Person-Centered and Existentialist counseling theories. I believe that people are the experts of their own stories, and am eager to learn about their lives from their perspective. I seek to walk alongside my clients as they search for meaning in their lives.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
A native of South Carolina, I moved to North Carolina to pursue my goal of becoming a mental health counselor. I believe in the counseling process and have a desire for my clients to find healing, inner peace, and empowerment within themselves. My hope is for my clients to experience a growth in self-love and acceptance as they face the good and bad that life may bring. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and dogs, raising their 5 chickens and two parakeets, playing acoustic guitar, writing songs and poetry, and doing almost any outside activity. I consider myself to be an extrovert who is energized by being with people and having spontaneous adventures.
