My Background and Approach
My areas of clinical expertise are trauma with a special focus on religious trauma, queer identity, and anxiety and depression. I utilize parts work, which is the idea that we are all made up of different parts of ourselves. During our sessions, I prioritize curiosity around who these parts are and what makes them feel safe. My values in therapy include queer and trans-affirming care, fat-affirming care, neurodivergent-affirming care, and sex positive approaches. I am happy to provide letters for gender-affirming care and surgeries.I am EMDR-trained (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and have seen great success when clients are set up to let their brain and bodies do the work of nonverbal reprocessing of trauma. I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own experience and my job is to hold thoughtful space and ask questions to facilitate your own remembering of your agency and competence.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I chose social work because of the strong emphasis on social justice. I believe that the micro and macro are connected, and that what we feed grows. When we heal ourselves, we heal the collective, and our collective is deeply in need of healing. I love my work as a therapist. It is a deep privilege and honor to be allowed into my clients’ lives, to have a front row seat to their healing, and witness them grow and come home to themselves. As a cisgender, bisexual, white woman, I am firmly committed to antiracism, dismantling systems of white supremacy, and amplifying marginalized voices. I love working with the LGBTQ+ population, and as a member of this community, I firmly believe that you deserve a therapist who understands and can empathize with your experience.
