About My Clients
"You're not too sensitive. You've just been around people who couldn't handle your depth." If that landed, you're in the right place. You show up for everyone family, friends, work and quietly wonder who shows up for you. You're the one who holds it together on the outside while carrying cultural guilt, generational pressure, and the weight of living between two worlds on the inside. You don't need someone to hand you a worksheet. You need someone who actually understands where you come from.
How I Can Help You
I'm Heidy Davila, a bilingual (English/Spanish), first-generation Guatemalan therapist based in Los Angeles, offering telehealth to adults and teens across California. I grew up navigating a Guatemalan immigrant household, cultural guilt, el qué dirán, machismo, and the pressure to succeed while never fully belonging to either world. I don't just understand that experience; I live it. That's what makes this work different. My approach is warm but direct. No toxic positivity, no "good vibes only," no homework that ignores your reality. I draw from psychodynamic and trauma-informed foundations, weaving in parts work (IFS-influenced), somatic and nervous-system tools, and culturally responsive care — not as an add-on but as the core of how I work.
Why I am a Good Fit for You
Most of what brings people to therapy once made complete sense. The anxiety, the people-pleasing, the difficulty saying no, these aren't character flaws. They're adaptations that developed for a reason. My job isn't to convince you that something is broken. It's to help you understand what happened and support you in choosing something different. I believe in the full complexity of being human. You can love someone and still be hurt by them. You can want to change and still resist it. You can have all the insight in the world and still feel stuck. Most of my clients are already self-aware. What they need isn't more information; it's a different relationship with what they already know. The gap between understanding yourself and actually changing is where the real work happens. That's exactly where I want to meet you. If any of this resonates, I'd love to connect.
