About My Clients
Do you have trouble slowing down even when you don't have to be on? Is anxiety wreaking havoc on your relationships and your health? Does it feel like an alarm system is constantly going off in your mind and body? I get what that feels like and I am glad you are looking for help. So many people try to tough it out alone. Reaching out is smart, brave and the first step to getting your life back.
My Background and Approach
That alarm system of yours - your body/mind on HIGH alert all the time - I will work with you to understand and recalibrate it. I use current brain and body science to shed light on what is setting off the alarms. Paying attention to the body is important. Ignoring or overriding the body only works for a short time. After that, stress builds up and manifests in sleep disruption, panic attacks, and multiple kinds of health issues. I understand how and why anxiety makes it hard to function in relationships. If there are historic traumas, losses or relationship patterns that impact your anxiety we will explore those together, at a safe pace. I will teach you skills you can use for the rest of your life. Skills that will help you take, and keep, control over your life. Where you are right now is where we start - no judgement. Therapy is a collaborative process. I serve as a companion and a guide. I can hold the light for you when you can't.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe individualism has negatively impacted our lives making us believe vulnerability and reliance on others is weakness. I believe we are stronger, healthier, and happier together. I am relationship positive and support all my clients to flourish in healthy loving relationships - in whatever form that takes. As a white bodied person I benefit from unearned privilege. I believe it is my responsibility to continuously unlearn and uproot racism in my own life and address systems that perpetuate systemic oppression. My family supports organizations like Hip-hop for Change and ReconciliAsian. The world needs everyone whole and beautiful! Being authentic is important to me. I had brain surgery in my early 30's. That did a number on reorganizing my values and led me to become a therapist. I love being a mom, making things with my hands, and am excited to celebrate 26 years with my partner this year. If you want to learn more about how I can help, send me a message.
