About My Clients
I have worked with many populations in therapy. I have the most experience in working with adults and children in trauma. I also welcome outpatient substance use clients, domestic violence survivors, and anyone who has difficulty with anxiety and/or depressed moods. I work with children, ages 10 and up, and also any adult.
My Background and Approach
I have been working in the mental health field since 2001. I started working in group homes, facilitating outpatient groups, and then decided to further my education in the mental health field. After obtaining my MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I started working in substance use facilities, community mental health, and people that are incarcerated at the local jail. I moved into the child welfare field and then started at the Child Protection Team. I was the Program Coordinator at the Child Protection Team, supervising therapists and providing individual and family therapy to victims and their families. I conduct trainings to several local agencies that work with trauma survivors. I am a member of the Florida Crisis Response Team. I am a licensed mental health counselor in Florida and Colorado, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value empathy and compassion. Those are two qualities that I think make a up a good human, and even more so, lay a foundation for a good therapist. I find being an unbiased , non judgmental presence is what makes my clients feel at ease.
