About My Clients

I like to think of myself as an advocate and a cheerleader. It’s my personal mission to empower those I work with; I strive to guide and support them through their healing journey and beyond. I specifically help adolescents and young adults recognize their unique strengths, work through life’s challenges or transitions, create new or hone pre-existing skills, learn to set healthy boundaries, and/or to simply feel comfortable and excited to be their unique and authentic self.

My Background and Approach

I strive to create a safe haven during sessions where my clients feel able to be 100 percent themselves, where vulnerability feels safe and freeing. I use a collaborative approach, where together my clients and I will create achievable goals for therapy and work jointly to reach those goals. I work from a broadly psychodynamic framework, incorporating dimensions of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), systems theory, and the strengths based perspective. I believe we all deserve to feel good about ourselves, which can be much easier said than done. I will cheer on and guide my clients through the process of getting there. I advocate for and work with my clients to recognize the power of fierce self-compassion, which allows them to explore their thoughts, emotions, and actions more clearly. Therapy, to me, is a working partnership between myself and clients and I absolutely love walking alongside people as they embark on this courageous, and sometimes scary process.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I received my bachelor’s in social work at Lipscomb University and my master’s at the University of Memphis. I began my career in social work and counseling working at a child advocacy center in Nashville, TN. I have since worked with a wide variety of populations ranging from cancer patients and their caregivers to human trafficking survivors at an anti-human trafficking center in Memphis, TN. I’ve worked the last two years at an acute psychiatric facility in Chattanooga, TN.
