I'm a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist helping men and women find healing and recovery for sexual compulsivity and intimate betrayal. I'm trained through IITAP and have specialized in sex and porn addiction since 2014. I'm also trained through APSATS as a Certified Clinical Partner Specialist Candidate and work with partners from the Multi-dimensional Partner Trauma Model. I am sex positive and believe that sexual compulsivity hinders healthy sexual expression. My goal is to help people connect authentically with themselves and their partner(s), both sexually and non-sexually. Sex addiction is not about sex. It's a compulsive way of dealing with life, in the same way many use substances, gambling, food, etc. I help people discover healthier ways to cope. Partners of sex addicts often experience symptoms of PTSD after discovering their partner's infidelity. I help partners find safety and navigate the path to healing from betrayal, whether they stay in the relationship or not.

As a Gottman trained therapist, I love helping couples learn practical tools for dealing with conflict and disconnection. It's common for couples to come in pointing the finger at their partner. I love helping them work *together* on their problems and realize that they're not as messed up as they think they are. One of the challenges in finding a good couples therapist is making sure that both people feel heard and understood. When a therapist takes sides, it's hard to move forward and this is often when people say "couples therapy doesn't work." I like to keep an open perspective about how couples work. Each partner's perspective on the relationship is valid and deserves to be considered. Couples therapy is about learning to communicate better, problem solve with dialogue and understanding, and create space for your partner to be their own person as well as having a deep connection with you. I love supporting couples in creating a relationship that's really meaningful for them.

Sometimes life is just overwhelming. You have too much on your plate and you're too busy and tired to figure out what to take off of it. So you just keep going. Eventually, you reach a tipping point and you know something has to change. This is where therapy can help. We can sit together and sift through that plate of responsibilities, desires, goals, fears, and all the emotions that go with them. I can help you find the things that really matter to you and figure out how to let go of the things that don't. And let's be real. Some stress is because of good things (new job, new relationship, buying a house, having a baby). It's not about completely eliminating stress from your life. It's about finding ways to cope with the good stress and minimize the impact of the negative stress. You might need some practical tools or just space to think and get feedback. I can help you with both.

I use the Gottman Relationship Checkup with couples and meet with them both together and individually throughout the course of therapy. There are specific tools I use that help couples have a better relationship from day one of our work together. Free will, personal choice and responsibility, and exploring the meaning of life are key parts of how I work. I believe this is the fundamental dignity of being human and love seeing people connect with their own deepest values.

Infidelity takes many forms, but the impact is often the same: broken trust, fear, shame, anger, and uncertainty. Both parties often become weary with the recovery process, especially when they try to do it alone. Therapy is a great resource for creating a new relationship, filled with truth and trust (because, let's be honest, you don't wanna put the old relationship back together - that's what broke in the first place).

I consider myself a "tough love" therapist. my approach is grace-filled, but also direct. I don't believe in letting people dangle in confusion when I can offer some kick-you-in-the-toosh feedback that'll actually help you move forward. I assess your goals and make sure the work we're doing together is moving you in the right direction.
