About My Clients
Are you struggling in your daily life and relationships related to a traumatic experience (sexual, military, or other)? Are you having difficulty getting along with your significant other, either due to a slow decline or recent major revelation in your life? Are you struggling with the difficulties of military life? Are you seeking a therapist who can provide counseling that respects your faith practices? I may be the right fit for you.
My Background and Approach
I’m licensed in Ohio as an IMFT-S and psychologist and can practice virtually in many states as a member of PsyPact. If you’re outside of Ohio in many states that means I can still see you virtually. I have more in depth training in couples therapy and I’m recognized as an expert in couples therapy by my peers. I’m board certified in Couple and Family Psychology and certified in Hope Focused Couples Therapy and Prepare/Enrich. That means I’m trained in several evidence based therapies for couples, with experience using several others as well. I’m also an Army veteran (former mental health specialist) who is certified in CPT and completed my internship in the VA. I was a counselor for soldiers during my time in the Army and have extensive experience with military and veterans and their dependents. I was trained in psychology faith integration at Regent University, so I’m comfortable with faith as a regular part of therapy.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that a person often doesn’t make sense in isolation so I make it a point to understand my clients in context-what the family was like growing up, how your marriage developed, how sexual abuse impacted your sense of trust, and how deployments changed you. I love reading and music and will probably recommend a book or two that may be helpful to you and maybe a song or artist to explore. As a person of faith myself, I strive not to impose my faith on you but provide a place to explore how your faith can be an asset in your recovery from mental illness and seek to ensure any interventions are consistent with those beliefs.
