About My Clients
My clients tend to be individuals searching for someone that wants to do deep, meaningful work together. Many are looking for a therapist that meets them intellectually, and pushes them while still keeping an empathetic ear. There is a balance between tough work and support that is very important. Some of my particular areas of expertise include grief/loss, couples, as well as affirming LGBTQ adults and youth.
My Background and Approach
Therapy with me is not a place where you are given band-aids. While many techniques I employ can help in the immediate, the goal is to find long-lasting change. This may be uncomfortable or difficult, but through that discomfort comes a more meaningful existence. This is done with the warmest, most supportive environment possible. Hard work can be wrapped in comfort and support to make the journey a little less hard. I want you to feel safe even during difficult moments. The most important person in our sessions is you. You are the focus, and I am unashamedly on your side - our goal is to help you reach your most authentic self. I will push you to do the hard work but also be your biggest cheerleader. We will take on challenges together; you will never be alone.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy is for everyone. I actively work with my clients to overcome the stigma of shame when it comes to seeking treatment. The biggest step is to decide to start therapy, and I believe that everyone deserves the ability to be their most authentic selves. In my office, everyone is worthy of love, support, and acceptance. We are committed to the support of the LGBTQIA+ community in our area, and provide a safe space for our clients to explore and grow in their identity. We believe that Black Lives Matter, and continually endeavor to ensure not only a justice-informed community of healing, but also to dedicate ourselves to proactively anti-racist education and counseling interventions. We also are committed to our Manna Basket Financial Program, which takes 10% of our receipts before taxes and is used to provide assistance to those clients who may need financial support. This is our biggest effort to combat financial holdbacks for those who are seeking services.
