You want to reconnect with others, and more importantly, yourself. You want to work out the kinks of your past and gain a new perspective that allows for more joy.
My Background and Approach
I am a therapist, but first, I'm a human with a complex history. I aim to utilize my experience - both professionally and personally - to help you uncover intergenerational patterns, illuminate unhelpful dynamics, and encourage healthier relationships with yourself and others. I have been in the caregiver field for over a decade - from elderly people in home + nursing homes to special needs adults and children on the autism spectrum. I joke that I am a "professional lover". That's what I see therapy as, I love on people - or in therapy terminology, "unconditional positive regard." Complex trauma was caused through relationships, and it needs to be healed in relationships. Unfortunately, when you've never experienced healthy attachment, you reject it and choose what's familiar instead. Psychological Safety = familiarity. Notice how that word is super close to family. I help people sort through their past so it stops impacting their future.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I think the key to healing complex trauma is reconnecting with yourself. Realizing nothing was ever truly wrong with you, you were just given faulty programming. Unfortunately, that programming leads us to interpersonal problems, toxic relationships, people-pleasing tendencies, and general self-abandonment. I help people come home to themselves and realize the love they needed was always inside you - sometimes you need someone to show you HOW.
