About My Clients

Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable adults who overthink, feel deeply, and work hard not to disappoint others. You may struggle with perfectionism, people-pleasing, chronic self-doubt, or trusting your own needs. You may understand your patterns intellectually but still feel unable to change how you react emotionally. I work with adults experiencing relational and developmental trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, chronic pelvic pain, and the effects of persistent health conditions.

My Background and Approach

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-Supervisor and EMDR Certified Therapist with a master’s degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. Before entering private practice, I worked as a teacher and school counselor. I have more than two decades of experience in education and mental health. My approach is warm, collaborative, attachment-based, and trauma-informed. I use EMDR, parts-oriented therapy, and somatic resourcing to help clients process painful experiences and understand the protective patterns that developed around them. I believe trauma therapy should be carefully paced. I will not push you into painful memories before there is enough trust, preparation, and stability. We will make room for both the parts of you that want change and the parts that may feel afraid, protective, numb, or overwhelmed.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe many of the patterns people criticize in themselves began as intelligent ways of surviving, maintaining connection, or navigating difficult environments. Healing is not about shaming those responses or forcing yourself to become someone else. It is about understanding what your mind and body learned, creating more choices, and developing a more trusting relationship with yourself. My work is grounded in feminist, LGBTQIA+-affirming, and anti-oppressive values. I recognize that emotional distress does not occur in a vacuum and may be shaped by relationships, culture, identity, health, and larger systems. I aim to create a space where clients feel respected, believed, and free to bring their full selves into therapy.
