About My Clients
At Rock Recovery, our clients are teens and adults ages 14 and up, who struggle with all kinds of disordered eating. I have a special passion for working with individuals in larger bodies and those looking to break free of the shame cycle that surrounds binge eating. If you're looking to integrate your faith into recovery, we can support you with that through our faith-based peer support groups or individual therapy services.
My Background and Approach
My focus is treating disordered eating, including binge eating disorder, bulimia, anorexia, body dissatisfaction, chronic dieting, intuitive eating, and orthorexia. I will integrate various approaches thoughtfully, to individualize our work together. We might emphasize building shame resilience and your self-compassion practice. Sometimes I will engage clients in some "Parts work" (IFS). We may also help you stay true to your values, using ACT. I tend to be more process-oriented than structured, but this can also be tailored to your needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am passionate about the Health At Every Size(R) philosophy and approach, and I'm in the process of becoming a Certified Body Trust(R) Provider. My approach is rooted in respect for my clients' instinctive ways of surviving, while fostering a spirit of gentle, curious experimentation to find new, more sustainable ways to move forward. If you've ever had your broken relationship with food/body dismissed, overlooked, minimized, or even encouraged, due to living in a larger body, there's a special place in my heart and in my practice for you. I might be a good fit for you if you are looking for a therapist who is down-to-earth, trauma-informed, and likes to use humor in our conversations.
