About My Clients
I work with adults with a range of goals, including improving interpersonal relationships and improving physical health. I specialize in the psychological components of medical issues, such as obesity, diabetes, chronic pain, and living with chronic diseases like HIV. I am active in the LGBTQ community, advocating on both the local and national level. The primary population served includes adults with medical/behavioral issues, Veterans, and people in the LGBTQ community.
My Background and Approach
I'll work to help you come up with ways to manage symptoms that are bothering you. My postdoctoral specialty training in medical/health psychology will help us develop ways you can cope better with chronic illness or make the lifestyle changes you want to improve your health. We also can develop tools to manage stress and anxiety, including reactions that stem from a history of trauma. Therapy is offered at your pace -- whether you want to focus on developing tools to cope with the present or spend time processing events that occurred in the past. We try to keep therapy costs as low as possible, including offering brief visits if you don't need a full session, so that finances aren't a barrier to getting the treatment you deserve.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am active in the LGBTQ community, including speaking at national conferences and participating in local community advocacy events. I enjoy working with people who identify as LGBTQ, regardless of whether their goals directly pertain to identity. I also find my work with Veterans to be meaningful. The primary goals of this practice are to normalize mental health and eliminate barriers to accessing care. Our model keeps costs lower than traditional therapy sessions and more easily accessible to those who cannot travel to an office, whether for medical or financial reasons.
