About My Clients
Do you want practical skills? Enjoy learning new information? Or enjoy an active approach? I have served individuals, couples, and families of all ages 2 – 103 with various ethnic, gender, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. I have provided mental health counseling services at various settings – K-12 schools, colleges/universities, non-profit/for-profit, in-home/residential settings, and in private practice, both on and offline in English & Vietnamese.
My Background and Approach
Congruence, unconditional positive regard, and accurate empathic understanding are the three characteristics, or attributes, of the therapist which form the core part of the therapeutic relationship according to Rogerian therapy. I draw from many theoretical orientations, but mainly Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Solution Focused (SFT), and Narrative Therapy (NT) to equip you with skills that you will may find helpful for years to come.
