About My Clients
I work with clients at the intersection of physical and mental health. I have expertise with chronic health conditions such as HIV, diabetes or chronic pain. I provide both brief and long term treatment depending on your goals for therapy. Most of my clinical experience is working with the LGBTQ community. I also treat anxiety, depression, life stress and trauma. I have experience with family building through surrogacy, IVF and or adoption. I also write letters for gender affirming surgery.
My Background and Approach
I am a relational therapist who uses third wave CBT approaches in therapy. This includes CBT, ACT, & DBT. My style is directive and interactive. My goal is to understand you as a unique individual within your community. My aim is to understand your hopes for healing. Change is hard and can be tedious. We will explore the ways you have been coping and develop new skills and tools to manage distress. I use experimentation and behavioral activation to get your body and mind trying new behaviors. Together we identify goals and use your values to help journey towards your best lived experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that change is possible, once we are ready. As someone who suffered from panic attacks and anxiety in my childhood and young adult years, I am aware of the journey of therapy and how change can happen when you have a safe place to walk through your experiences. I am a spiritual person, but do not align with any religious belief system. I am passionate about social justice and human rights, including equity for marginalized communities. I also provide low to no cost evaluations for those seeking asylum as I believe everyone should have the right to safe community. I played youth sports and love to travel to watch sports events in my free time. If you are interested in talking more, send me a message.
