About My Clients
I help adults who are seeking to heal prior family wounds and traumas, improve their current relationships and quality of life, and are seeking support during times of transition - especially to parenthood. My clients come from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, gender identities, and sexual orientations. Many of my clients are professionals struggling with stress and burnout, while simultaneously navigating difficult personal issues and transitions.
My Background and Approach
My predominant specialty areas are in trauma/PTSD, addiction, and perinatal mental health. I offer a dynamic blend of evidence-based treatments (e.g. Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, etc) while focusing deeply on how to use the therapeutic relationship to aid in building insight and healing. My style is warm, direct, active, and playful. At my core, I am a client-centered, collaborative provider. At the beginning of treatment, we will collaborate on goals, and systematically track progress throughout your care. I enjoy helping clients with skill building and problem solving, as well as depth exploration and processing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal belief is that there are three things that cause an immense amount of suffering for most people; 1) our inability to effectively identify, feel, and communicate our emotions, 2) our difficulty with tolerating uncertainty, and 3) our tendency to get stuck in patterns of rigidity. We don't exist in a vacuum. These patterns and difficulties with emotional expression are inherently influenced by our culture, intersectional identities, and family of origin. Furthermore, we are impacted by systems of oppression or supremacy in which we have lived and worked. I am pro-immigrant rights, pro-BLM, and allied with the LGBTQIQ and veteran communities.
