About My Clients
I am passionate to work with those who have a strong desire to seek freedom from the negative impacts in the cycle of abuse and trauma. Many of my clients describe themselves as those who live with complex trauma, meaning they have experienced a number of compounding traumas throughout their lives. My goal is to create safety for my clients as they process their story while being met with compassion and strength to move forward into healing.
My Background and Approach
I come into the counseling field with over a decade of experience as a victim advocate in community advocacy and (criminal justice) system advocacy. With these experiences, I have gained a deep understanding of primary and secondary trauma and the trauma that is associated with being a part of these fields and navigating the system. I utilize EFT, somatic, and narrative techniques matched with an attachment lens to lead clients into the safety of connecting their feelings and their physical bodies. I am trained in EMDR and polyvagal theory which play a large part in my work with clients as they begin to understand how their bodies and brains work together in trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that change is possible when the person desiring change is ready. Therapy takes an immense amount of courage and energy as skills are learned and beliefs are re-evaluated. I believe it is my job as the therapist to help clients navigate this journey, but that they have the full capability to find change within themselves. I welcome clients of all race, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religious background, and gender. As someone who has walked my own healing journey, I do not take the honor of my role lightly. It is a great gift to be invited into your story as you navigate the painful, messy and tricky parts of life. I am so glad that you are here and I welcome you to reach out whenever you feel ready.
