I have spent the last 7 years predominately working with junior high to high school students struggling with relationship issues, school conflict, depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, hospitalizations for suicide attempts, anxiety- social and school related, and physical/sexual/emotional/psychological abuse.

I have partnered with children, adolescents, families, and adults struggling with the repercussions of trauma. I focus on creating a safe and secure therapeutic environment where my clients can share whatever details they are comfortable with. This is to help them understand why they think, feel, and respond the way they do, and provide the opportunity to pursue personal autonomy.

In my 7 years as a therapist/counselor, I have provided crisis interventions, suicide assessments, case management, and therapy sessions to individuals bombarded with harmful thoughts pushing them to die by suicide. As a therapist, I sit in the darkness with them and work with them to establish hope. In session, we work together to walk through the darkness and create new goals to inspire reasons to live.

Based on the research and work of Sue Johnson and the International Centre of Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy, I am studying their experiential, relational, and humanistic model that combines the work of Carl Rogers, John Bowlby, and Sue Johnson with her team. This therapy is based on attachment theory working with families, couples, and individuals to integrate their emotions into their daily lives by improving their emotional communication patterns and interactions.

Attachment Theory is based on the work of John Bowlby and Mary Ainsworth who both studied and researched human relationships such as parent-child bonding. There work helped pioneer how mental health professionals look at secure, anxious, avoidant, and disorganized attachment styles which show up in our emotional expression, social behaviors, interactions with others, and how we related to self and others.
