About My Clients

I specialize in working with adults of all ages who feel anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and emotionally out of control in relationships. You feel addicted to love, struggle to trust, and panic when you finally connect with someone. You come from a family where there was drug or alcohol use, abuse, neglect, or your parents were emotionally checked out. You feel numb and stuck. You want to feel better and you feel like maybe you could do that if you felt better in your relationships.

My Background and Approach

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with my Masters degree from the University of California Los Angeles. I've spent many years working in outpatient treatment centers for drug and alcohol addiction where I've worked with hundreds of adults struggling to free themselves from the hurt, loneliness, longing, and despair that pushed them to escape into drugs and alcohol. My work with clients in individual therapy draws on my years of experience in the addiction field. Building trust comes first. After that, we’ll calm your mind and body using evidence-based techniques from somatic and mindfulness-based therapies and the world of Attachment Theory. We’ll work together to figure out- once and for all- why you keep falling into the same relationship traps. We’ll ensure you learn the skills to start doing things differently so you can finally exhale. All of my work takes your past relationships and traumas into account.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I know that people can learn and grow in their relationships because I've done it. Growing up in a home with alcoholism and codependency didn’t prepare me to be in healthy relationships. I struggled in my interactions with my parents, my romantic partners, and- most painful of all- my child. Today, I have a loving and supportive spouse, a deep bond with my daughter, and have found peace in my relationships with my parents. I tend to my own mental health by running, meditating, reading Al-Anon literature, and spending time by the water. My relationships are works in progress; they're not perfect. But today I feel more joy and less anxiety than I ever thought was possible
