I've been working with clients with depression for over 5 years and it is one of the most common presentations I see in my practice. I focus on helping my clients gain a deeper understanding of the roots of their symptoms, as well as work with them to develop skills to improve mood in the moment and over time.
In one way or another, stress is the cause of most mental health disorders. I will work with you to identify sources of stress, teach you techniques, and help you develop skills to manage stress and help you relax.
Most of my clients are dealing with anxiety to some extent. Together we will explore the roots of your struggle with anxiety, how anxiety works, and what strategies will work best for you to manage and reduce anxiety.
I believe authenticity and being true to yourself is an essential part of good mental health, which is why I approach therapy from a humanistic perspective. Humanistic therapy focuses on helping clients identify what is true for them, and how they can live as their true selves in order to find fulfillment and reach their potential.
I've been teaching clients mindfulness strategies since I was an intern. Practicing mindfulness, although not always easy, is incredibly simple, and can lead to profound changes in the way we relate to ourselves and the world. Not to mention it's a super effective way to manage stress and feel more relaxed.
Research has shown that CBT is one of the most effective therapy approaches, and I've been using CBT techniques with clients throughout my career. CBT helps us recognize the relationships between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, and teaches us tools to manage all three in order to improve mood, reduce anxiety, and understand ourselves better.
