About My Clients
From going to therapy for the first time to thinking it might be time to make a change, there can be feelings of hesitation and fear. To start therapy is to enter a professional relationship that prioritizes yourself, your mental health, and your healing. This can be both overwhelming and rewarding, sometimes all at once. Healing and growing are natural to the human experience. Together, we'll learn to experience a wider range of emotions, including those that bring joy.
My Background and Approach
My decision to become a therapist came from a desire to become part of a community of healers that offer a safe space for connection, exploration, and recovery of the self, especially for members of the Latiné community. In the last few decades, there has been an emphasis on the importance of balancing our mind-body connection. My culture and belief system showed me true balance lies in our mind-body-spirit connection. We are energetic beings first and humans second. Now, more than ever, there is a need for deeper connection, compassion, and love. Professionally, I bring the importance of the present moment, creative recovery, and radical self-acceptance to the forefront of my therapy practice. In order to connect with others, we must learn to connect deeply with ourselves. Incredible things are accomplished when we know who we are.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Being a first-generation Mexican-American woman comes with experiences and beliefs that are rooted in the culture I was raised in. Without these experiences or beliefs, I wouldn't be who I am doing the work that I do. This is why I believe of it's importance and power in the therapeutic setting. It can be hard to feel like you don't belong here or there, to feel like you've been misunderstood your entire life, to worry that you're too much and not enough all at once. Although painful, these experiences can be transformed from within and must be viewed from a physical, mental, and spiritual lens. I believe in the empowerment of the individual and the effect that has on the interconnectedness of all living beings. Learning to be kind to one another starts with learning to be kind to ourselves.
