About My Clients

In my work with trauma survivors, something I have commonly heard is the feeling of being “broken” or “damaged.” My goal is to challenge that belief. What feels like being broken usually means the biological response to trauma is at work to keep you safe. Unfortunately, the way the brain does this can come with negative impacts on daily functioning, establishing healthy connections with others, and the ability to stay emotionally regulated.

My Background and Approach

I specialize in helping individuals heal from trauma associated with toxic/emotionally abusive relationships, experiences of intimate partner violence, sexual assault, adverse childhood experiences, childhood sexual abuse, and sex trafficking. I also have a deep understanding of intersectionality and approach therapy through a culturally responsive lens; taking into consideration the impacts of systems of oppression and experiences of historical and racial trauma. I highly value continuing education and feel as though it is my duty to stay knowledgeable on how to provide the best care to the clients I work with. I am credentialed as a Certified Trauma Specialist and have taken a variety of trainings specific to treating related to the experiences mentioned above. I am also trained in several treatment modalities including CPT, DBT, ACT, and IFS as well as somatic and psychodynamic approaches to therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a strong advocate for social justice and am dedicated to cultivating a safe and understanding space for members of marginalized communities. As a queer woman of color, I am not just an ally, I am a member of the communities that I serve. I do not believe in reducing an individual down to just a diagnosis or a list of symptoms, you are a human being. The way that you experience your mental health is heavily impacted by your identity and lived experience and it is so important to look at the entirety of you.
