About My Clients
My clients tend to be adults who are caregiving, living with disabilities, health issues, autism, adhd, and or are recovering from trauma and grief. They want to find connection and healing while living in an ableist, rigid society. They have experienced spiritual/religious abuse and want to learn to use their unique brains and bodies to support their recovery. They have a sense of humor and are open minded, using creative strategies to heal.
My Approach to Helping
I am a LCSW with a broad psychiatric and medical background who has worked for many years with those having to navigate both the medical and behavioral health systems. I approach our work together collaboratively, knowing you are the expert in yourself. I use an eclectic approach, focusing on your personal strengths and drawing on your beliefs, creativity, lived experience, humor and place in society as a beginning to your healing. I am trained in EMDR, ART, sensorimotor/somatic strategies, and am IFS informed, using these modalities in partnership with you during sessions. I am strongly committed to social justice in all its forms, and am open to discussions surrounding politics, oppression, and discrimination. I am not a member of any religious or spiritual group but have knowledge of various communities with a special interest in helping those who have experienced religious trauma. Accepting insurance only in CT, not paneled with insurance in MA.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have lived experience with disability and neurodivergence. I celebrate and affirm neurodiversity in all its forms and support those participating in anti racist and LGBTQIA+ activism, as well as mutual support/aid. I am a member of the international cultic studies association (ICSA), therapists neurodiversity collective and support many other organizations that are committed to reparations, healing, informing, affirming and amplifying the voices of oppressed populations, as well as helping alleviate the suffering of other humans. I am committed to financially supporting, honoring and remembering the indigenous people whose land was stolen from them by settlers, who committed atrocities and perpetuated generational trauma. I remember, and acknowledge that Madison, CT should still be home to the Hammonasset, Wappinger and Quinnipiac tribes. I do not use nor allow the use of AI in my practice.
