About My Clients
I specialize in working with people who are often mistreated and judged by others due to struggling with: Dysfunctional relationships (infidelity, divorce, etc.), complex trauma (racism, sexual abuse, etc.), and gender discrimination (homophobia, transphobia, etc.). Know that you are not alone in these disparaging experiences and that I am here to validate your lived experiences and help you to work through the pain!
My Background and Approach
As an LMFT I am trained in the following evidence-based practices: Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Narrative Therapy to help clients work through and heal symptoms of anxiety, depression, burnout, anger management, grief, trauma, and everything in-between. I have had the privilege to work at a university setting that allowed me to work with a diverse population of clients who identified as Black, Indigenous, Latiné, Pacific-Islander, Asian, White, heterosexual, gender-queer, neuro-divergent, religious, non-religious, disabled, low socioeconomic status, and other marginalized identities.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe and strive to intentionally and consistently embody kindness, humility, empathy, and compassion within all facets of my life as a Black, heterosexual, cisgender man. As a mental health professional I identify as a BIPOC- and gender-affirming mental health professional. This means that I implement an integrated mental health and social justice approach in order to support every client I have the privilege of working with. As a result of my personal beliefs, I am currently a member of the Queer and Trans Advocacy Network (QTAN) through the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT), the Ogden Queer, Trans, Intersex, Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color (QTIBIPOC) Counsel, Project Success Coalition, and the National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
