About My Clients
Many of my clients are dealing with trauma, upending life events, and internalized oppression. They are working to calm fear and anxiety and to disentangle the threads of worldview, self-concept, and expectations. Across diagnoses, my clients are working to develop a new understanding of - and relationship with – self.
My Background and Approach
I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, working under the supervision of David Huffman, PhD, MDiv, LPC-S, RPT-S. I earned an MS in clinical mental health counseling at the University of North Texas. Areas of special experience include dreamwork, transpersonal issues in counseling, hypnotherapy, EFT (“tapping”), and somatic focusing. I use these approaches because they offer access to new and expanded ways of thinking, acting and relating. Here’s how I see my role: I work with you to co-create a place of connection and support. In this relationship, our task is to explore the whole you: how you understand and connect with yourself, others, and your world. I offer reflection and therapeutic options; you chose the course we’ll take. Together we notice patterns, explore emotions, and strengthen the mind/body/spirit connection. As awareness increases, growth and change follow naturally.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Above all, I value mutual understanding and respect. I have come to believe that connectedness is the secret to a meaningful life. Without understanding and of and authentic connection to our own identities, we cannot understand or authentically connect with others. In honor of these values, I strive to understand and affirm my clients' cultures, abilities, gender identity, affectional and sexual orientation, relationship styles, and spiritual belief systems. I am neurodivergent. I am endlessly fascinated by nature, art and human expression.
