About My Clients
My clients are seeking to change relational and emotional patterns in their lives that are impacting their well-being; however, often times that change is also scary and uncertain. Having been to therapy myself as a teen and young adult, I am familiar with feeling resistant to, unsure of, and also hopeful about the changes that can occur in therapy.
My Background and Approach
I began my journey in mental health treatment in 2014 working in Asheville, NC; I worked in various therapeutic settings with pre-teens and teens for two and a half years. I then began to integrate my passion for mental health work with my values of social justice and inclusion, and pursued my Master's in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to starting my private practice, I worked as a family-based therapist utilizing Ecosystemic Structural Family Therapy in Delaware County, PA, for over 3 years. Through this experience, I have learned to be a fierce advocate for my clients, helping them to reconnect with their families and communities. At this time, I have had my private practice for a few years and have greatly enjoyed working with my clients to meet their goals. Since starting my practice, I have become trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy) to better serve my clients who wish to process past trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that it is essential to therapy to feel as though you can bring all aspects of your identity into the space without fear of being judged. I am committed to continual learning about various marginalized communities in order to best serve my clients and advocate for systemic change. Important aspects of my identity that I bring into the therapy space are my experiences as a queer person and my experiences utilizing therapeutic services myself. I use this to inform my approach with my clients and connect around lived experience.
