I believe that all bodies and backgrounds deserve care and that we are all doing our best to survive and grow.
Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Seattle, WA
I have a specialty working with teens and pre-teens. I completed my graduate internship in Ballard High School's teen health center where I confirmed that I love working with this demographic. I am also a parent, and I don't take my role supporting your child lightly.
My practice specializes in working with eating disorders and disordered relationships with food/body. I spent the first 2 years post graduate school really focusing in on my specialty training in eating disorders, and I continue to learn more with each client. These experiences are often misunderstood, and can have origins in trauma, oppression, and difficulty in family dynamics.
I've received training in CBT and ERP (exposure and response prevention) evidenced based practices for anxiety disorders, and I incorporate these modalities as needed. I've also struggled with an anxiety disorder myself and have such empathy for the experience. Alongside using methods like ERP I spend a lot of time exploring the experience of living with anxiety, and the things that contribute to anxiety disorders including lived experience.
I use EMDR and Lifespan integration to treat trauma (which is not always or even usually one event like a car accident!) I believe trust and feeling heard/understood are key. I have also seen how important getting out of just basic "talk therapy" for trauma is. EMDR and Lifespan integration have changed the way I practice because they target the traumatized brain in a really different way than talk therapy does, leading to more relief.
